Anne W. Burrell has worked as a chef, TV presenter in the US as well as an instructor at the Institute of Culinary Education. Burrell hosts Secrets of a Restaurant Chef on Food Network. Food Network. Chef Burrell is also an experienced chef of New York City's best restaurants. Additionally, she has studied Italy's culinary tradition and culture, as well as the landscape. As a child in the upstate of New York, Chef Burrell was captivated by food and cooking at an early age. The Culinary Institute of America sparked her interest in the management of restaurants after she graduated with an English/Communications diploma at Canisius College Buffalo NY. After graduating Chef Burrell lived in Italy for a year, attending an Italian Culinary Institute for Foreigners. She also worked in La Taverna del Lupo and La Bottega del 30 (a Michelin star restaurant) located in Tuscany. The chef gained an appreciation of Italian culinary and cultural traditions throughout her time in Italy that has informed her style of cooking. Burrell serves on the Garden of Dreams Foundation Advisory Board that helps brighten the lives of kids who struggle. She also is a Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation's Celebrity Advocate in which she has a mission to raise awareness for young diabetics. She speaks about her cooking love and imparts her expertise in the culinary world as she frequently travels throughout the US in the roles of speakers and mentors. Anne often has mentioned throughout her professional career that she feels so fortunate to have the opportunity to be able to share what's truly important for her.
