Anne Burrell

Anne W. Burrell (born August 25, 1949) is an American TV chef who is a popular personality. Burrell was also a former instructor of the Institute of Culinary Education. She is host of Secrets of a Restaurant Chef on the Food Network. Anne Burrell, with her famous spiky blonde hair and her edgy personality on Food Network's Secrets of a Restaurant Cook series, shares straightforward and simple techniques for home cooks. Chef Burrell has worked in some of the top eateries within New York, studied the culinary landscape and traditions of Italy and competed in Food Network's Iron Chef America. Burrell was born within New York State's Upstate, discovered a love of cooking. Her passion was for food and restaurant by enroling in The Culinary Institute of America following the completion of a bachelor's degree in English as well as Communication at Canisius College, Buffalo NY. The Culinary Institute of America was a fantastic adventure. It was impossible to learn, do or work enough. Following her graduation, Chef Burrell went on to spend one year in Italy studying at Italy's Italian Culinary Institute for Foreigners while working at La Taverna del Lupo in Umbria and La Bottega del 30 a one-Michelin star restaurant in Tuscany. While in Italy Burrell developed a profound appreciation and understanding of Italian cuisine and its culture. This will have a significant impact on the way that Burrell approaches her cuisine. Burrell is a celebrity ambassador of the Juvenile Diabetic Research Foundation. She also was a part of the Garden of Dreams Foundation Advisory Board which assists children with obstacles. She has been a frequent presenter at conferences, and she travels throughout the United States to mentor others in her task. Anne in all her culinary journey has stated that it is a privilege to have the opportunity to share her passion for food with other people.
