Anne Burrell
Anne W. Burrell is an American TV chef and former instructor at the Institute of Culinary Education. She hosts Secrets of a Restaurant Chef at the Food Network. Anne Burrell, with her signature spiky blonde locks and her edgy personality on Food Network's Secrets of a Restaurant Cook series, reveals straightforward and simple techniques for home cooks. Chef Burrell is also a part of some of New York's top restaurants, has learned about Italian cuisine and its traditions and has was a contestant on Food Network's Iron Chef America. Burrell was born living in New York State's Upstate, developed an early passion for cooking. The Culinary Institute of America has sparked her interest in the management of restaurants after she graduated with the English and Communications degree from Canisius College Buffalo NY. The Culinary Institute of America is a wonderful experience. It was difficult to master and do enough or put in the hours. After graduating, Burrell spent one year in Italy studying in the Italian Culinary Institute for Foreigners and worked in Umbria's La Taverna del Lupo as in Tuscany's La Bottega del 30, which is a Michelin-starred establishment. It was during this time that her experience in Italy allowed her to comprehend and appreciate Italian way of life and its culture which has had an impression on her perception of food. Burrell has been a member of the Garden of Dreams Foundation Advisory Board to improve children's lives who are facing difficulties. Additionally, she is an Juvenile Research Foundation Celebrity ambassador which promotes education about the condition known as juvenile diabetes. She travels frequently around the United States in her position as both a mentor and public speaker in which she speaks about her professional life and the joy of cooking. Anne says she was incredibly fortunate that I could be able to share her passion for cooking with other people.
